Personal Development Plan

With the joining of the Personal Development Plan, We had taken several skills that had to be imparted in me in terms of the areas where I had to develop and the kind of activities or the ways of leaning those skills. This PDP is always accompanied by the time scale so that a consistent monitoring is kept on the movement of the program and our own progress in acquiring and attaining of the skills that are being part of our PDP program. By means of this program, we can ourselves manage and develop our skills and competencies based on what and levels they are desired in us. We could easily compare these skills and competencies in this program in the way they are being mapped with that of professional standards and the organizational competencies that are required to be present in the individuals. PDP is a kind of developmental program that gives us an opportunity in developing ourselves with respect to our short and long term goals and objectives. The time scale that we mention helps an individual in keeping track of the effectiveness of the developmental plan or the track on whether as per the timescale we are able to achieve the plan or not. It is a way, direction and the guideline on how, where and what to move with respect to our skills and competencies. This personal developmental plan helps in developing the skills mapped with the professional standards and the organizational objectives that are to be instilled in the care workers and other staff. It is always advisable that each person makes his own PDP and even organization keeps a track on it to find out the areas that have to be developed. This will not only develop an individual rather helps the organization in achieving its satisfaction for the service users and all people associated. The above PDP defines the skills like technical skills, competencies like time management, learning of handling the equipment and the tools related to health and social care setting are being acquired by a care worker. These kinds of programs help in developing the individuals working for an organization. This way even the organization develops the people who are trained and competent. It helps the organization in achieving its goals and objectives in future (Clouder, 2003).
