This is why I tried for 25 years to self treat for chronic pain. Only after a major resolved the cause of my pain I could THEN turn to neuroplasticity and behavior modification for changing those ghostly psychological remnants of my pain, namely all those coping mechanisms and habits I formed to avoid the perception of my pain in the first place. I could never put my faith into a dr to treat what I knew to be a near fatal condition. I finally found a dr to perform the risky surgery amd now am ok to continue living and re-learning how to live. Your writing is impressive and gives me a lot to think about now. Thank you.
