Hey, fellow freelancers! Feeling frustrated because your proposals on Upwork aren’t getting viewed or winning clients?

Am I right? I bet I am. 🙋‍♂️

Well, today, I’m pulling back the curtain on a winning proposal strategy that helped me land big clients on Upwork — including some clients who you wouldn’t believe I’ve worked with.

Like this one right here…👇

Can’t believe it? 🤔

That’s 100% REAL !!!

But here’s the deal: if you want to win clients on Upwork, you need to believe in yourself and what I’m about to share.

But First, A Quick Warning ⚠️

Before I reveal my $1M+ proposal strategy, listen up.

This is NOT something you can just copy-paste onto Upwork and expect magic to happen.

If you do that, you’ll end up wasting your…,

  1. Connects
  2. Time
  3. Energy

and the clients STILL won’t respond.

Step 1: Start by Reading the Job Post Carefully 📖

I know what you’re thinking:

“If I spend too much time reading every job post carefully, I’ll never have time to send out enough proposals.”

You know what, I used to think the same thing. 🙈

But here’s what I learned: if you rush through a job post and fire off a generic proposal, you’ll get zero responses.

Instead, when you take the time to fully understand what the client needs and write your proposal using my $1M proposal strategy, you’ll almost guarantee a response.

And hey, if it doesn’t work the first time, don’t sweat it — because the response section will give you feedback on what to improve. 😉

Step 2: Understand the Client’s Pain Points 🎯

Now, here’s where things get interesting. I’m going to show you a job post from one of my Upwork clients.

In this example, the client needed detailed research to help them join the conference and write a speech for the assembly.

Here’s what I gathered from this post:

  1. Pain Point #1: They needed thorough research to join the conference.
  2. Pain Point #2: Even if they joined, they didn’t know what speech to give.

Step 3: Write Your Proposal Like This ✍️

Now that I understood my client’s challenges, I crafted a proposal using my $1M strategy.

As you can see, my proposal addressed their exact needs:

  • Personalization: I started with a personalized greeting, like “Hey [Name of Client].”
  • Targeted Pain Points via Queries: I ask pain points targeted questions that help me to get a RESPONSE from the client and also to get more details about the client’s project.
  • My Approach: I outlined the steps I’d take to help them, without writing a long essay (which most freelancers make the mistake of doing).

Step 4: Keep It Short and Focused ⚡

Notice how I didn’t write a novel. I got straight to the point.

The trick is to keep it short, clear, and relevant.

After writing, read your proposal twice, and if it doesn’t sound right or has errors, rewrite it and read it again before HITTING submit.

Step 5: Get Ready for the Client’s Response 🚀

Now, I know you’re curious to see how the client responded to my proposal. 😉

That’s it!

The three key elements that make up my $1M proposal strategy are:

  1. Personalization
  2. Targeting Pain Points via Ask Expert Questions
  3. Explaining How You’ll Help Them

Last Words… Time to Win Big on Upwork 🏆

I hope today’s story has given you some real, actionable insights.

This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” template, but rather a proven strategy that’s helped me win big clients.

If you have any questions about freelancing or proposals, the response section is wide open!

Drop a comment, and I’m happy to help. 😊
