Meetup.com missing features

I’ve been using Meetup.com for almost 1.5 years as the part being in the the leading team of Java.IL community. As such I’ve noticed that are many important features missing. I wanted to place them in a Feature Request site but couldn’t find any (hint, hint). There for I’m listing them down here, maybe they’ll notice?

Mobile app on iOS

  • The ability to edit Draft events as a meetup group Admin. I have to login to the site from Chrome, request Desktop site just to view the draft event, let alone edit it
  • Clicking a link to a meetup event in Inbox (Google) should open the app if it’s installed exactly on the event. Sometime it opens the app at the homepage. Very annoying
  • I get a notification as an admin that my group has new members — I click it but instead of seeing those new people I get a giant list of existing members sorted by…you guessed it — alphabetically. Did someone at meetup actually checked that feature before launching it?
  • Check-ins to events — Let’s say 130 people RSVPed to an event. How many really showed up? I have no idea! I’m forced to count them by hand each time. If Meetup would send a notification to the guest when he arrives to the event location (use the GPS) offering him to check-in that would really help.
  • The ability to edit how many people actually showed up to the event. I currently have to do this from the website. Here’s a tweet to Meetup at Dec 2015, with their response afterwards.

Website

  • Analytics — The existing analytics offered to an admin is pretty crappy. I has two metrics and that’s about it. I suggest their PM head to YouTube as a channel admin to see how really good analytics look like.
  • Live event page— It would be fantastic if I could put a webpage created by Meetup on the big screen at the event as people trickle in. It could show the agenda of the event, play lounge music, show how many people checked in so far, encouraging people to click “Check in” on their meetup mobile app (helping me know how many showed up). As they check in, their photo can suddenly appear in cool animation with some details about them (unless they opt out).
  • A truly great forum in the meetup group page. Use Discourse — it’s awesome and free, instead of your own — it’s so much better.
  • When pasting links to an event in Twitter, the box displayed with title and summary, but the title is that of the group and not the meetup. See this tweet as an example:
