The U.S war for Independence

The American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). The war was in armed conflict between the British Empire and thirteen of its North American colonies, later declared independence as the United States of America. The French and Indian war left the treasury of Great Britain drained, so it raised taxes in America and tightened its regulations over the colonies. The French and Indian War cost Britain a lot of money, so the Britain wanted the American colonies to help pay for it. The Britain put very high taxes on Americans. Then American Revolution began. Colonists wanted independence from Britain because they thought the British were treating then unfairly. In brief, the causes of revolution were high taxes, crisis and internal British politics.

The French Revolution

French Revolution also called the Revolution of 1789. It is a period of time when the people overthrew monarchy and took control of the government. There are three main causes of the French Revolution: 1. Economic cause, 2. Political cause and 3. Social cause. Economic causes were: growing government debt, attempt to tax the nobles, food shortage and tax burden on the third estate. Political causes were absolute monarchy ( a ineffective ruler King Louis XVI). Social causes were the growth of industry and the rise of the middle classes and increasing poverty. In conclusion, the French Revolution completely changed the social and political structure of France. The Revolution ended with the rise of Napoleon.

The Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution took place from the 18th to 19th centuries. It was a period during which predominantly agrarian, rural societies in Europe and America became industrial and urban. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700s in Britain. Manufacturing was often done in people’s homes, using hand tools or basic machines. Causes of the Industrial Revolution were the following: rising population, increase in capital (money), abundant supply of natural resources, and increased consumer demand — cotton, iron potter. Although, industrialization spread from Britain to other European countries, such as Belgium, France and Germany and to the United States.

The U.S Civil War

The American Civil War was fought between the Southern states and the Northern states. The fought took place from 1861 to 1865. There are many causes that led the war to happen. The Civil war started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slaves states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states. After the war, slavery was effectively ended. Although, reconstruction, the plan to rebuild America after the war, began.

The Iranian Revolution in 1978

The Iran’s revolution began in 1978 with a popular democracy movement and ended with the establishment of the world’s first Islamic state. The revolution turned Iranian society upside down and became one of the defining moments of 20th Century. The Iranian Revolution occurred due to modernization, economic concerns, social and cultural concerns, political concerns. The protests and riots started to be organized as major demonstrations against the Shah. The country was paralyzed by strikes and demonstrations, finally this led the Shah to get outside the country a year later in 1979. At the same time Ayatollah Khomeni returned from exile to Tehran while the Pahlavi Dynasty collapsed just ten days later. This collapse has been described as an effect of the Iran government. As a result he became the Supreme Leader of Iran.

The Cuban Revolution in that 1950s

The thing that started the Cuban Revolution was a failed attack on the moncada barraks. After the attack failed nearly all of the rebels who were involved either captured or killed. The US did support the revolution at first, also virtually every area of Cuba, anti-batista groups majority of the Cuban population. In brief, the Cuban revolution was caused by the takeover of former president Fulgencio Batista. Even though he had the support of the US, many Cubans opposed him. The Cuban Revolution ended in a triumph with the ousting of the Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.

The Kuomintang Revolution in China

The Kuomintang (KMT) — Nationalist party in China led by Jiang Jieshi, which began a war against the communist party led by Mao Zedong. Both fought for control of China, with Mao and the communists winning in 1949. The war was fought between the nationalist government of China, also called the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China (CPC). Chiang Kai-shek of the Kuomintang decided to get rid of the CPC. The Kuomintang killed and arrested many of the CPC leaders in what is today called the Shanghai Massacre. Mao Zedong of the CPC led an uprising against the Kuomintang which is called the Autumn Harvest Uprising. However the uprising failed, but the revolution had begun.

The Russian Revolution in 1917

The Russian revolution took place in 1917 when the peasants and working class people of Russia revolted against the government of Tsar Nicholas II. The group of revolutionaries called the Bolsheviks. The revolution began when a number of workers decided to strike because the Tsar consistently failed to deal with various social and economic problems facing Russia. The Tsar was poor on making decisions. He was forced to give up his throne and a new government took over. After the government was run by two political parties, The Petrograd Soviet (also called the Bolsheviks) and the Provisional Government. There were the war between two sides. As a result, the Bolsheviks won and new country was called the USSR.

The Spanish Civil War

The Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) — It was a conflict in Spain between the Nationalist and the Republican forces. The war has been seen as one of the greatest clashes of political ideology of modern times. By the 20th century Spain was one of the world’s most powerful country. After that the country became poor and backward country were corruption was rife. Causes of the Spanish civil war were the following: Weak government, king abdicated the throne in 1931, each region had their own political views and wanted independence, many different groups with different opinions of the government. Nationalist won in the civil war because they had support of African army, best troops in the country, and had resources.

The Arab Spring

The Arab Spring was a serious of anti — government protests that started in early 2011 in Tunisia. Popular uprising in Tunisia that protested against corruption, poverty and political repression and forced president Zine al-Abidine Ali to step down in January 2011. Successful uprising in Tunisia against former leader Ben Ali emboldened anti — government protests in most Arab countries. The aim of the Arab Spring protests were to fight against the high unemployment, against the poverty and against political repression.
