Our prime minister finally decided to declare a state of emergency — from Tokyo
The prime minister officially announced that he’ll declare a state of emergency soon, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
The declaration a state of emergency allow prefectural governors to ask strongly closing of stores, public facilities, and all companies.
But there’s no fine or punishment for violation.
It’s a just request, not command.
No one can disturb the citizen’s freedom under Japanese law.
We’ve chosen this social system by ourselves and it’s based on our trust each other.
Our law protects our freedom under any circumstances.
It seems like a little bit of a flaw under this pandemic situation, but I’m proud of our law because it is the heritage that our ancestors have fought to get.
Of course, we have to behave with discipline individually and there’s also a lot of risks of our not having the law to force citizens to do and not to do something.
But we’ve chosen it.
We have no choice but to do what we can do now and to fight against the virus in this social system.
I strongly hope everything will be better not only in Japan but also all over the world.
