Conquer The World


Why is the large majority of the human race so complacent in their behaviours and habits?

In everything I’ve experienced its because they lack these 3 things:

A Present State Of Mind

Empowering Self Talk

Discipline

As humans, we crave a lot of things. Power, attention, food, sex, the list is endless. I observe our cravings to be broken up into two categories:

  1. We either crave something that will provide value to our life.
  2. Or we crave something that will take away value from our life.

We have cravings because we have habituated our mind and body to become dependent on a certain action/stimuli to satisfy our needs and wants.

How do we mitigate destructive cravings and habits that harm us and take away value from our life?


Present State Of Mind

The average person can have as many as 50,000 thoughts running through their mind in one day. It’s impossible to be 100% dialed in into each one, you’re not Buddha. As a result of poor decision making skills and constant distracting stimuli we end up moving through the motions of life inevitably slipping from the present, to the past, to the future. Subsequently we suffer. We suffer by never really being in the moment of comprehending our actions and their possible outcomes.

It’s clear to all of us that grabbing that sugary filled snack will harm us in the long term. But we do it anyway to gratify our monkey mind as dopamine receptors in our brain light up like fireworks as that delicious food cradles our taste buds. Ironically, only then do we take that moment to really be present in the experience and joy of food, albeit poor quality.

A very important step in ceasing self destructive habits is to be present in our actions. Only then will we have the foresight to determine that our complacent behviour will harm us much more than benefiting us from any type of short term pleasure.

Self Talk

What are you thinking when you grab that food? What are you telling yourself when your about to cheat on your partner? Probably only something that rationlises the action you’re about to take. Why? Back to the first point, because you’re not present enough to anticipate the dangerous consequences of your actions. Or you just don’t care about them. But often our present state of mind is clouded by emotion and our life suffers significantly more because of it.

Any time we slip, we have to ask, what’s going within our mind? Its probably something not very positive or fulfilling. We’ve blindly rationalised our actions. We need to tweak that self talk to the reality. Because the reality is you don’t really need that sweet. The reality is he don’t really need to sleep with that girl or guy. You’re not gonna die if you don’t gratify your immediate short sighted desire.

Ask yourself, what am I telling myself in the lead up to this action? What am I thinking? What am I feeling? Become self aware within your motives. In that moment you have to check yourself and correct yourself immediately.

Do I really need this? Will this provide value or take value?

Self Discipline

A lot of the time creating or changing new habits to form a better life comes down to straight grit and self discipline. Sometimes just have to say no. Simple as that. you have to make that decision to either be like everybody else and be average, or be better and above average. If you want to be like everyone else, there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s fine. This ain’t for you then. But if you want more, than you have look yourself in the mirror and decide you’ll handle your business and do what needs to be done. Once you’ve done that. The universe is gonna get out your way. The world needs more exceptional people. You can help contribute to that.

No ones gonna want it for you. Some people just don't have that innate hunger to strive for greatness. So with that being said, maybe I’m not the best person to write about this, because 95% is innate for me. I want the world and when I want something I truly believe I can get it.

I believe I’ve studied and observed enough successful people to come to the conclusion that you can cultivate a certain amount of hunger and discipline by understanding the sense of urgency of life. No one knows what happens after we die. Our own mortality is the most difficult concept to grasp. Really sitting down and thinking that you could end your life at any time OR someone could take it from you is a really confronting thought most people are too afraid to face. Don’t avoid it. Embrace it. As Seneca understood,

“To free yourself from fear you must work backward. You start with the thought of your mortality. You accept and embrace this reality. You think ahead to the inevitable moment of your death and determine to face it as bravely as possible. The more you contemplate your mortality the less you fear it
And when your time to die comes, as it will some day, you will not cringe and cry for more time, because you have lived well and have no regrets.” ~ Robert Greene

Once you understand, embrace and live by that you will live with a higher level of fulfillment and fearlessness than 99% of the human race.

You and your life will fade into obscurity unless you take this shit seriously.

If you don’t, the world will not notice you and you will blend into a sea of mediocrity because you’re too afraid to confront yourself and demand better.

There are few people in this world like me who want it more than you. So what are you going to do to be better? You need to do better. I need to do better. We need to do better.

You don't need to do better for your mum, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend or anyone. Be better for YOURSELF. Because before you can even be in a position to be of value to others in our life you need to be of value to yourself. No ones going to want it for you. No one cares about your excuses. The majority of people don’t even care about you. You want a better life. It’s right there. Conquer your mind and go take it.
