To rip a part of the piece and spin it around… Eric Elliot is very smart, very respected, and worthy of emulating in a lot of ways. If all developers tried to be a little more like Eric Elliot, our culture would be much improved.

But on this point, I disagree with Eric. While it may not be as precise as you’d like it to be, like “always learning”, the now-used “Junior Developer for Life” tagline connects directly to the community. A majority will understand its intent. It’s a “sticky” phrase, thus the reason for its effectiveness…without us feeling like it would undermine our literal professional skill status. Or water down too much what we are actually saying. Its supposed to be superficial and light.
