You should not forget that the US is foremost in implementing a spheres-of-influence policy. It has not retreated from that postition since the end of WW2. The M-E is a cac;ophony of conflict and oppression owing to US influence (Afg. Iraq, Syria, Egypt, S-A and by association Yemen — to name a few instances).
