I wanted to agree with you, truly, but I don’t buy your narrative about skin color privilege and Latinas. My problem is the vague nonchalance about equating Latin@s with white women and it’s inherently bias. Obviously Kali U was born with lighter skin tone but does not necessarily scrub away the discrimination she may experience as a Colombian American in the United States. I wish I agreed with you, but this article is divisive and discredits an underrepresented artist with something to say. Why can’t she have blonde hair then dye it brown somehow appropriating culture? What’s wrong with that.
