I want my kids to be able to look up to their President
I want my children to grow into adults who do the hard work of engaging, of compromising, of listening — and to have that behavior modeled for them at every level.
After President Obama’s 2016 DNC speech, my 16 year-old son said, “Wow. He’s a really great man.”
Do you know how hard it is to impress — let alone inspire — a 16 year-old?
Stoking fear is easy; inspiring hope is HARD. Trust must be earned through service, hard work, and the willingness to listen.
I want my children to grow up in a culture of hope and positive progress. I want my children to look upon their leader with admiration. I want my children to aspire to build on what’s best about America — inclusion, opportunity, tolerance, and freedom.
