Advice for Living
Turn on an album by a band you really like and blast it.
Do something to it. It doesn’t matter what, really. Walk to it. Dance to it. Clean up your fucking room to it. Feel every note, feel the way that singer screams into the mic, feel the twangs of every guitar chord emphasizing each proclamation they make. In that moment, set up residence in-between the notes of each song. Make your home in the nooks and crannies of each octave. Think about nothing else.
And afterwards, when the album trails off leaving you with nothing, tell yourself it will be okay. Tell yourself everything is fine. Tell yourself to get your shit together. Because if it isn’t going to be alright, you’ll survive — and if you don’t, then there wasn’t any point of worrying about the end anyway. We only get one life, after all.
So live it.
