I was dealing only with portrait. But there should be ways to solve your first problem. You can add landscape but need to understand and make sure respective raw file storage is perfect. This tutorial is just a baseline.

Hi, please make sure to set the device orientation to only portrait in Xcode deployment info as I wrote the code for portrait only and the completed app includes horizontal scrolling. That may be the reason why you have problems in Landscape or while flipping. Could you make the change, and build the app in Xcode and try demo-ing again? Let me know how it goes!
