Pomsky breed of dog is quickly gaining popularity because of its looks, and also it is the crossbreed of Husky and Pomeranian. Pomskies are best suited for houses having kids as this breed of dog is active and playful with kids. As this breed is a crossbreed, it is often known as a designer breed.

People most of the times get confused while deciding the breed of this dog as not much is known regarding this breed as it is entirely new and rare. Another reason why people like to get this crossbreed is that of the concept that this breed acquires the best hereditary traits from its parents and is less susceptible to the diseases. However, there are no reports which can prove this.

The process of breeding is quite tricky and needs precision. For getting a pomsky breed, you need a Siberian husky breed and a Pomeranian breed. It should be kept in mind the natural mating of both these breeds is dangerous, and other methods should be used for breeding. It generally requires a female husky and a male Pomeranian dog. One of many reasons why this designer breed is popular is the size of the dog. The dogs have the looks of husky but are smaller in size comparatively.

Artificial insemination is the safest way to carry out the breeding procedure. In the method of artificial insemination, you need to know the ovulation cycle of the female husky dog. The right time to inseminate the female dog is four days before the beginning of the cycle. After this, take the semen of the male Pomeranian dog and keep it in a place such that it is chilled or frozen. Taking the semen out from the male dog is quite tricky, and only some experienced breeders or vets have expertise in doing so.

Once you get the semen from the male dog, you can insert this into the female dog before her ovulation cycle starts. Make sure that you are inserting the specimen correctly in the female’s dog reproductive tract. You can add more specimen from males dog after 48 hours of insemination.

Inserting specimen is easy but taking the semen is the step which is extremely difficult. For such situations, you can take the help of female dogs to arouse the male dog and can collect the semen at that time. It is generally advised to let professionals carry out this breeding.

Tip: It should be kept in mind that once you take the semen from the male dog, it should be inserted immediately if you are not going to keep it in a chilled environment.

Pomsky dogs have a thick fur which needs to be combed daily. Also, the dogs from this breeds are very playful, so make sure you play with the dog. As this breed is a mixture of both Husky and Pomeranian breed, it can get diseases similar to both the breeds and one should take care of them.
