Some Organic Remedies to Get Rid of Cockroaches

How irritating it is to find cockroaches at your place, knowing the fact that they can be a reason for a real time mess? Cockroaches have adopted towards staying in human habitations. They invade our house in search of food and shelter. Because they get their nourishment from filth and moisture, they find their shelter under moisture ridden places and feed over rotten food or garbage in our dustbins. Their habit to grow over clutter makes them a host of several deadly parasites.

To fight against cockroaches you need to take care of the cleanliness, both inside and outside your house, and can use some safe organic cockroach repellents.

1. Boric acid:

Boric acid, in the view of many people, is one of the surest ways to get rid of not just roaches, but also ants or any other insect. You can either dust the borax over the infested area or form a mixture with flour and water, and apply it over the infested area. Cocoa powder or milk powder can also be added to the mixture to bait the cockroaches.

2. Bay leaves:

Who knew that you can treat the infestation with simply using bay leaves? But that is true. Bay leaves can be found in almost every kitchen, not to kill insects obviously. It is an ingredient that is used while cooking, but can also be used to fight insects. Its pungent smell is very uneasy for cockroaches to inhale. If you will place bay leaves on shelves or corners, the cockroaches will immediately run away.

3. Cucumber:

You can place cucumber slices or peel on the spots crowded by these insects. Its smell bar insects from coming back to the spot again. If this isn’t working, there is another surprising, but very effective way. It requires fresh cucumber slices or peel to be placed inside an aluminum jar. Put this jar near the infested area. When cucumber reacts with aluminum, it emits a highly stinky smell that will kill cockroaches.

4. Garlic, onion, and cayenne pepper:

Surprisingly enough, there is another solution to get rid of cockroaches, which lies in your kitchen. You can form a solution by mixing one liter of water, one clove of garlic, one tablespoon of cayenne pepper and onion paste. Stir it well and leave it for an hour. After that, apply the solution to the all the entry points and the infested area.

5. Coffee grounds:

If you are a coffee lover, than it might be beneficial for you to know that, coffee grounds can bar cockroaches from attacking your home. Presumably, coffee grounds contain an acid that can kill roaches. Therefore a solution of water and coffee grounds can be used to fight the infestation. Put the jar of the solution near the area of the incursion to trap and kill cockroaches.

6. Petroleum Jelly:

You can make a trap using petroleum jelly. For that you need a jar and a strong fragrant fruit like banana, mango, etc. Apply petroleum to the rim and inner side of the jar, and then put a piece of a fragrant fruit in the jar. This piece will entice a cockroach to enter in, but the creamy walls will not let the roach to escape.

Most important thing, apart from applying organic or inorganic remedies to kill cockroaches, is to keep your house free from garbage. Therefore, it is necessary to dispose of the waste frequently. Wipe of your shelf and floor once or twice a day to clean the leftover crumps of food. Adding vinegar or few drops of lemon can deter roach infestation.
