What’s Happening in The Logistics World Today: 8/26–9/1
Spoiler Alert: Noodles go missing.

It’s that time again. No, I am not referring to 5 pm when it’s time to go home from a long day making that moolah. I know friends, sorry. I am referring to the time where I try to make a boring topic, well ya know, less boring.
For those of you that are just now checking in, I work for a pretty cool logistics company so I try to give you and my awesome coworkers the latest and greatest logistics news, because not only is it important, but I like to nerd out when it comes to boring topics. Not that logistics is boring or anything… it’s totally cool.
So, are you ready for it?!
1) Noodles end up M.I.A.
A truck driver dropped his trailer off at a local gas station in Atlanta, GA a few days later when he went to go back to get it, the entire trailer carrying almost $100,000 worth of noodles was gone. Can you imagine parking your car somewhere and going back the next day to find out it’s missing?
Side note: The trailer is still missing and the investigation continues.
2) Toyota invests 500 million into Uber.
As if Uber needs anymore media attention Toyota decided to invest some major cash flow into this spectacular business. News broke last week that Toyota and Uber will now become the dynamic duo in bringing an “ on demand autonomous ride-hailing service to the market.” Under this agreement, all Toyota Sienna minivans will be equipped with Uber’s self-driving technology. Fancy.
This service should be in full swing by 2021- which, gives the dynamic duo a few years to figure out what works best for them.
3) Want your groceries delivered to your doorstep? There’s a company for that.
AutoX Launches Self Driving Grocery Delivery Service. AutoX, a Silicon Valley startup, has launched its self-driving grocery service. However, this will only be available in San Jose, Ca. Bummer. The model behind this is to allow consumers to pre-order groceries from an app- yes, an app, or have the car drive to the consumers’ location, which will allow them to pick and chose their groceries directly from the vehicle. This comes a few months after Kroger announced it would begin testing an autonomous grocery delivery service, partnering with Nuro, in Scottsdale, AZ. This grocery delivery service as a whole will ideally help grocers with fulfillment.
See AutoX fancy website below to get more information about their saucy service:
4) DrayNow Raise $5million For It’s Intermodal Trucking Platform.
If you haven’t heard of DrayNow- they are a “marketplace” to help brokers( specifically brokers in the intermodal business), connect with available carriers. This awesome marketplace partnered with Comcast Ventures and Osage Venture Partners to complete their Series A funding- which helped them achieve their $5million goal.
DrayNow offers an app that is basically like the tinder or bumble of the transportation world, but instead it helps shippers and brokers connect in trucking capacity, as well as provides real-time updates of what is happening with a shipment at any given time.
