Survival Is Success: Lessons from Hollywood
One of the many lessons I cherish about writing and performing music, as well creating art in general, is that survival is its own form of success.
To be resolute, when it is all too easy to relinquish hope and go through life with a sense of resignation; to surrender to the temptations of pessimism and passivity, as if I have no control over my ambitions — as if I choose to pretend I have no influence over the direction of my career — is to perpetuate a culture of complaint; you can hear that woeful cry from the base of the HOLLYWOOD sign to the shores of Santa Monica and the mansions in Malibu — it runs the length of Sunset Boulevard, and traverses the cliffs and canyons along the way, registering a pitch of permanent desperation.

I know that sound.
Perhaps you hear it, too.
I will not, however, succumb to it.
Nor should you.
I look forward to sharing more stories with you.
Most importantly, I am so very grateful for your support.
