Week 5, 4th of July, and Life Realizations
Well, my 5th week of my internship has passed and it was a relatively short week! We had Friday off because of the holiday. Tuesday we had a full schedule of auditions and work, but Thursday we got out at 1:30pm. Wednesday night I had been talking with my Dad and he kindly offered to fly me home for the holiday weekend! I have been kind of lonely here in NYC and I have come to realize that I REALLY do not like living completely alone. So getting some time at home seeing some of my friends was so nice! I got to see my friends Ashten and her Fiancée Eric, Shannon and her Fiancée Peter, Kelly, Brynne, and then my Big Becky, Little Jordyn, and Sister/Twin Ashley! It was so incredible being able to go back and visit with so many close friends in such a short amount of time! I also got to watch my Dad’s dogs. I absolutely love those girls. He has a Yorkie names Pinot and a Beabull (Half Beagle, half Bulldog) names Bombay. They are the cutest little things and the biggest cuddle bugs!
So, I flew in late Thursday night, and stayed with my Nana at her condo. I was glad I got to see her for a little bit and to see my baby girl Callie! (My dog, not my actual baby!) She is my world and I love her to bits! She is so sassy and has a huge attitude (I wonder where she gets it from haha!) but she is always so excited when I get to see her. Friday morning I went to my Dad’s house to get the scoop on watching the dogs, and then went to the grocery store to get food for the weekend. That night I went to Red, White, and Boom (a downtown Columbus Independence Day celebration. This year it was held closer to the Arena District) with some friends. On the 4th I hung out with the girls, and then around 5 went to a cookout with my boyfriend Austin’s family and family friends. We were going to go to the fireworks held at my high school, but I needed to let the dogs out and I watched Independence Day with the girls and Austin. Sunday was Austin’s birthday lunch and then we went to a cookout with my grandparents. Monday I flew back home. Needless to say it was a great weekend! I am flying back on Monday to hang out with my Mom for the weekend, and I am really excited to be going to see her.
These past few weeks have really been a sort of wake-up call about life. Without going into too many details, I have just realized life is short, and you have to spend time with loved ones as much as possible, take care of yourself, expect great things, and make sure you are happy. Your health and happiness are important in life, and why waste your life being unhappy? You only get one, so make the most of it. Live it up, love the people who treat you right and forget the ones who don’t. Don’t take life too seriously, and live in the moment.
“Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away”
