My first week here!

HELLO MY FRIENDS!!! I know all of you are anxiously waiting to hear everything that I've been up to this past week, and if you aren't then I'm not sure why you are reading this… ;D
This week was basically a tourist week for me where I worked, but got to tour around and see all of the cute little things about Adelaide that the locals don’t typically think to see.
Goodness… Where do I start….. Um…. Lets go day by day, yeah?

This is Jonny, (Mickey Mouse), Gill, and Paul. (Left to right)

Sunday 19/06/2016:
I arrived in Melbourne and then flew to Adelaide. Gill(Jonny’s mum) and Kaitlyn(the current nanny) met me at the airport and took me back home. So Gill and Paul have the most psycho driveway ever. It’s on the side of a cliff and you have to turn twice going up to get to the drive way. (If you want a video of it let me know and I’ll send it to you via FB messenger.) Well apparently I handled the shock of it a lot better than Kaitlyn did her first time. She had started screaming. XD I got to the house, brought my things in and settled in a bit and took a tour of the house and then Gill and Paul’s friends came over for tea-time and we had a chat and visited for a little while until the jet-lag won me over (I was falling asleep on the counter and the floor) and I finally went up to bed and was knocked out like that. End of day one!

Monday 20/06/2016:
Wake up time was 06:30. We got up and showered and ready for the day by 07:30 and then went upstairs to get Jonny’s breakfast, lunch and school bag ready. Then at 07:45 we went to wake up Jonny and got him dressed and ready for school and then downstairs for a breakfast of toast with Vegemite and one with jam and his medicine that they call vanilla sprinkles, a cup of juice with some more medicine, a cup of water and a cup of milk. (Quick tangent about Jonny- Jonny has down syndrome and celiac disease(can’t have any gluten whatsoever or he gets really sick) and then had leukaemia twice when he was younger so he has had a really rough life, although he is able to make the best of it.) After breakfast we took him to school and afterwards we went down town to figure out all my bank stuff and we went to Foodland (their big name grocery market) and got lunch from the bakery, went to the Burnside mall and K-mart(which has no affiliation with America’s K-mart. They also have a Target that has no affiliation with America’s Target.) where I bought some very nice and warm sweaters and a nice jacket because it is winter here (which is more like Utah’s late winter, early spring mixed with a little bit of late autumn). Then went to pick up Jonny and took him to Ensos for dinner, which is a celiac friendly restaurant, took him home and got him ready for toilet and bath.

Yes, I have been exposed to man bits

Anyway, now that that is out of the way, we got him into toilet and bath (which he does by himself, thank heavens… XD) and then gave him a snack before bed and got him up to bed! End of day two!

Tuesday 21/06/2016:
Same morning routine. After taking him to school we went and picked up Maria, one of Kaitlyn’s friends from church, got the most delicious hot chocolate ever and we went to the Central Market and China Town which are right next to each other and went and looked at all of the shops and took a bunch of pictures and tasted the most amazing cheeses and just had so much fun!!! We found a huge sweet potato that was longer than my head and I could circle my fingers around it. Then we went to Glenelg beach and got to touch the southern sea! Did you know that if you hop on a boat from Southern Australia and just head straight, you’ll end up in Antarctica?? Cool, hu? :) Then after that we went on a small drive the street above our house and it was so foggy you literally couldn't see the street below… That’s pretty much all we did that day… After that we took Maria home and picked up Jonny and did toilet and bath and sent him to bed. End of day three!

Left: Literally, worlds BEST hot chocolate. ❤ Middle: Giant sweet potato!! Right: That’s Maria and then Kaitlyn. :)
That building on the left got the yellow color from salt. Isn’t it gorgeous? Middle has mochi and GIANT things of incense. Right: I have no idea how they did those apples, but it’s so cool!

Wednesday 22/06/2016:
I DROVE TODAY!!! Kaitlyn took Jonny to school and then when we dropped him off she had me drive to pick up Summer (an adorable Chinese girl who is a recent convert and is in our ward) and Maria. Wednesday was the day that we went to the wildlife park and I got to hold a koala bear and play with the wallaby’s and kangaroos and feed them and pet them and got pooped on the head by a bird and had so much fun taking pictures of the animals and interacting with them! Then after that we went to Handorff (a little German town where everyone speaks English but is of German descent.) and we went through all the little shops and had so much fun! There was this leather shop and the worker was super friendly and talkative and offered us some port, which was kind of him, but we didn't take any. ;) We went to the cheese shop and got to taste some amazingly delicious cheeses and then after that we went to a chocolate factory and had a bunch of samples and then went driving through the hills some more and then we dropped off the girls and picked up Jonny from a care place that he goes to on Wednesdays and brought him home, gave him food and then Kaitlyn went on a date for her boyfriend’s birthday and Gill and I sat and chatted for a little bit before heading off for bed. End of day four!

The bird on the left is a Kookaburra! Summer in the middle trying to pick up a goat and failing. XD
On the right: LOOK AT THIS EXTREMELY EXOTIC ANIMAL!

Thursday 23/06/2016:
Same morning routine. After dropping off Jonny at school, Kaitlyn and I went over to Summer’s house and met up with Summer and Maria and made “Honey Dew Muffins” (no fruit was involved. LOADS of honey though.) and chatted for a while and then Kaitlyn and I took muffins to some missionaries and people in the ward and then picked up Jonny from school and went on a nice little drive through the rain and took him to the park to play and then went to get an ice-block (popcicle), went home, Jonny played outside for a bit and we made him some food, did toilet and bath and sent him to bed. End of day five!

Friday 24/06/2016:
This was probably one of the busiest days because after dropping Jonny off in the morning, Gill gave Kaitlyn and I the rest of the day off so we went back home for Kaitlyn’s Polish lesson (she is going to Warsaw, Poland on her mission and is doing private tutoring while here) then went to Rundle Mall and walked around the shops and saw some street performers (including the digeridoo), went to the Natural History Museum and the Art Gallery, went to dinner at an Indian restaurant where I ate Crocodile and chocolate stuffed naan bread and then we went to sports with the missionaries and investigators and members and then we went on a small drive with some sister missionaries before dropping them off home and then we went home and went to bed because we were so tired from how much we did that day. End of day six!

Middle: DIGERIDOO!!! :D
Left: That is a block of ice in the Antarctica bit of the museum so people of Australia could know what ice felt like. XD Middle: That, my friends, is fossilized sea floor. Right: One of those is a LLama, the other is a Guanaco.
Left: crazy headdress Aboriginals made and wore during certain ceremonies. Middle: Aboriginal mask Right: Wall of minerals!!
Left: Dinner at Spice Shot(an Indian restaurant) where I got crocodile! Middle: Dream-time stories (the Aboriginal religion stories) that were conveyed by art works. Right: Aboriginal art. (Side note: There are many Aboriginal conerts to the LDS faith because their Dream-Time stories and religion has many similarities to the LDS faith. Cool, hu? :D)

Saturday 25/06/2016:
So Saturdays are a bit different. We woke up at 8 and made Jonny breakfast and waited until he woke up and had him eat and then we got him dressed to go swimming and we drove over to Marian and went swimming in an indoor pool, got an ice-block and then went home and basically just hung out for the rest of the day. OH! So we have been trying to teach Jonny that he has to sit down the entire time he is eating and to not get up and do his OCD things around the kitchen or the house. Well for lunch, we made him a big bowl of rice and beef-bits (something they make for his lunches that has ground beef and small cut veggies) and he kept getting up so Gill took away his food and threatened him that she would throw it away in the bin, so he sat down. She gave him one more chance after that and he got up to fix something so Gill took his food and threw it away and he threw the biggest tantrum and tried to get the food out of the bin. He finally learned from what happened, but the tantrum went on for maybe 3ish hours and then everything was pretty okay for the rest of the night. A little after that, we tried toilet and bath and he just wanted to go up to his room, so he went up there and Gill and Paul went on a date and Kaitlyn, Andrew, and I watched the Martian and had pizza and then went off to bed. End of day seven!!

Sunday 26/06/2016:
So I actually get to have Sundays off so Kaitlyn and I went to church and I had so much fun meeting people and chatting with the missionaries and just getting to know my new ward. :) We had Soup Sunday today which is basically just a mingle time for after church and you eat soup. I got a yummy pumpkin soup and it was divine. :) Then Kaitlyn went to hang out with Andrew and I went with Gill, Paul, Jonny, and Noodle(the dog) to their family friend’s John and Zoe’s house and visited with them for a while and then had delicious Chinese take away when we got home. :) End of day eight!

Left: Noodle! ❤ Right: Gill, Paul, and the take away! :)

Well there a have it folks! That was my crazy first week! May I have many more that are like it or even crazier! :D

End of Week One!
