So My Students Made Podcasts

On Friday, my ninth graders went to see a production of Romeo and Juliet at our school. It was PHENOMENAL. My students took notes throughout the performance to prepare them for today. In groups of three, the students wrote a script and recorded a five minute podcast reviewing the play. They discussed costumes, set design, and staging, and they compared the performance to the film and the original text. My classes are comprised of various ability levels, and I was blown away by the level of engagement in this assignment. All of my students were completing this assignment excitedly! We used the Voice Record app for iPad to record our podcasts. This app is easy to use, and students could upload to Google Drive. I highly recommend this activity. Even if you cannot take your students to a play, they can do a film review podcast comparing the film version to any text they read. So fun!
