When Your Work Starts to Follow You Home

Many people struggle with their schedule when it comes to work and having a life back at home. I have always been a strong believer of keeping work at work and never at home, but recently my husband has brought to my attention that quite the opposite has been happening.

A couple weeks ago, I came home to find piles of paper stacked up on my desktop computer about the management of our new rental facilities that we recently added on. At first, I didn’t think it was a problem, that is until my husband showed up an hour later with Chinese take out and there I was at my computer deeply embedded in documents and emails about work.

After that night, I realized something had to be done about my time management. That incident made me more aware of my time spent at home. I realized that I couldn’t get everything I needed to get done at work in one day and that some things will just have to wait.

This also helped me understand that it is important to ask for help, because I cant’ always get everything done by myself. Plus maybe it would be better for my own sanity if I reached out more.

Two weeks after that last incident I have been improving a lot and no longer bring my work home. I can actually say that my relationship and home life has improved so much! I can finally enjoy that Chinese take out with the love of my life.
