You are right and such is the complexity with marketplace models because monetizable value for the business is much closely tied to a transaction that simultaneously creates value for both buyers and sellers.

So while rate of transactions is more closely linked to revenue and the right traction metric, you still have to search for causal behaviors that might drive more transactions. Airbnb’s now famous photographer growth hack is an example of this where better quality pics of properties correlate with more rentals.
