Summer, Olympics and SaaS..

Yes, it’s summertime (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), as we root for our respective nations at the Olympics to bring us joy, we should all remember the hard work, planning and dedication the athletes must have put in, in-order to succeed.

Well, they are not the only ones who have been putting in an extra shift this summer. We at Teamlens.io have left no stone unturned to make sure your next Project Management Tool is up and running so that you spend less time chasing people at work and more time chasing your kids or dog (ok cats for some of you) at home. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

  1. Party like a Rockstar!

Yes, chilling and having fun is a part of our culture and we take great pride in it! It’s a perfect occasion for brainstorming and consolidating ideas. For example, during the last ‘chillout’ in our newly renovated garden space we learned different ways on how to open a beer bottle… (i.e. if you’re deprived of a bottle opener). Did you know you can open a beer bottle with your belt? Oh yeah!

Last but not least, the smiling faces you see towards the end of the evening is priceless :)

2. Freedom & Experiments.

Since from the beginning, we (the marketing team) have been given a tremendous amount of freedom to experiment and define product roadmap. We worked on different marketing strategies, launched SM channels, blog and even revamped our landing page. Yes, we tried a few other things here and there (like cold emailing at specific time of the year) but they didn’t bring us any rewards so we decided not to continue with them.

The important thing here is to experiment and measure results and then pick 3–4 strategies which proved to be the most successful in terms of time and resources.

And this what we’ve been up to: experimenting, experimenting and experimenting!

3. Mentor and Guidance.

Every successful athlete has a mentor or a coach to guide him/her through the pains and struggles to win an Olympic medal. We at Teamlens.io are lucky to be surrounded by such motivators who are constantly pushing us to strike for Gold. With their experience and expertise not only we are able to streamline our marketing and sales strategy, but also massively improve our internal communication. It is crucial to have someone to protect your back, especially at this early stage of product development.

4. Networking.

One thing we realised pretty soon, is the power of networking (Both physical & virtual) to acquire early customers. Not only its the quickest way to get people hooked on to your product but also the most effective one. I guess that’s where the ‘first 10’ customers should come from. We should look among our network first before venturing out in the public space.

If you can’t find anyone in your network who could use your product try finding problems your product can solve on the internet and start interacting with the community! Some of things we are doing at Teamlens: Quoring, Blogging, joining local meetups/events of similar interest and of course tweeting like a pro ;)

To sum up, learning and continuous improvement is part of athlete’s daily life and that’s how we have set our goals. We are experimenting and training hard everyday to bring to you an easy to use PM tool which will save you tremendous amount of time every month so that you can spend more time at home having fun :)

Finally a special mention and thank you to Aaron Ross, Marylou Tyler (Team Predictable Revenue) and Lincoln Murphy for inspiration behind this article and our journey so far in shaping product Roadmap for teamlens.io

Last but not least Unsplash for the awesome photos :)
