Robotic Process Automation(RPA) Vs Artificial Intelligence
I have mostly suggested creation of API to automate tasks rather than using RPA. Use RPA only if you are working with legacy systems and do not have necessary infrastructure for software teams and option for creating APIs. Most of the new age technology and applications has options to create APIs.
RPA should only be used if you are confident that your development time will be fast and you have teams to automate tasks in days rather then months and only start process once you have done detailed mapping (VSM) of the target process and completed Cost and Benefit Analysis. As many a time automation does reduce processing time and accuracy but does not lead to cost take out.

Also creation of APIs and related database will be more helpful to create a machine learning platform for future use with creation of AI capabilities.
