Wordle Bulletin #691 (May11, 2023) — “A 5 — ouch. ☹ I guess it’s to be expected as part of regression to the mean! I understand it, but I still don’t like it. ☹☹”

Today is the 9th day of using ROATE as the seed word. A time may be coming soon to switch the 1st and 2nd words of the triad (ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH).

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: BROOM (Typical — 2 vowels, 1 compound consonant)
# Of Guesses: 4.5
WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 5 for WordleGuru. ☹

Seed Word: ROATE: first word of the triad — ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH.
What we learned from the Seed Word: presence of one vowel (O) and one consonant (R) but not their exact positions.

2nd Word: SULCI (the 2nd word of the triad) since the seed word revealed only 1 vowel and majority of the Wordle words have 2 vowels. It didn’t reveal any letters. 17 possible words at this stage. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd Word: DROWN: I could not think of one word that would eliminate all but 1 possibilities. The second best that I could come up with was DROWN. It eliminated 11 of the 17 possibilities, leaving me with 6 possibilities to deal with — BROOK, [BROOM, VROOM], PROMO, ROOF, and PROXY. I needed to deploy the EnotE© strategy again.

4th Word: PYGMY: It worked and led me to the target word — BROOM.

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in my corner. ☹
