Take a break! Have a KitKat!

This will make sense as you go through the blog.

The break is all you need in life. We run behind everything possible. Our managers want our work ASAP. The house needs to be cleaned ASAP. Our friends want our replies ASAP. We want Friday night ASAP and don’t want Monday to come ASAP.

Why is it like this? What is wrong with taking things at a slower pace? Why should we hurry with everything?

Let me tell you about everyone. I don’t know how many of you will enjoy it.

Stage 1 — I can not wait for my child to grow up

Stage 2 — I can not wait to see them go to school

Stage 3 — I can not wait to see them learn music, art, dance, etc., and also education (Pressure kicking in and the kid loses interest)

Stage 4 — Oh my child has reached college now. But I want him/her to take up science and do engineering (eventually drop out or choose another career)

Stage 5 — They have a job now

Stage 6 — Roam around everywhere because you can not do all this after you are married

Stage 7 — Chalo! Everything is over. You should marry now.

Stage 8 — Repeat the cycle

Only a few people have broken this cycle. I’m not sure how many of us will be subjected to the same illogical cycle. We rush to grow and later regret it. We post something quickly and then regret it. When asked “Why? Why is this so?”, the response we get is, “it is how it is”. We asked a question, not a clarification or explanation for hurrying up.

Taking a break is like a distraction. A break can help you get creative and better in many ways. Here are a few of them.

  • Increased Productivity: Taking a break can increase productivity as it allows you to recharge and come back to your work or task with a renewed focus and energy.
  • Reduced Stress: Breaks can help reduce stress and prevent burnout. It gives you the opportunity to step away from the demands of work and focus on yourself for a moment.
  • Enhanced Creativity: Taking a break can enhance creativity as it allows your mind to wander and come up with new ideas and perspectives.
  • Improved Physical Health: Breaks can improve physical health by allowing you to stretch, move around, and get some fresh air. Sitting without breaks can lead to health problems like back pain, eye strain, and fatigue.
  • Improved Mental Health: Breaks can improve mental health by giving you time to reflect, meditate, or do something that brings you joy. This can help reduce stress and improve your overall mood.
  • Better Decision-Making: Taking a break can help improve decision-making skills as it allows you to step back and think more objectively about the situation.
  • Better Relationships: Taking breaks can improve relationships by allowing you to spend time with loved ones or socialize with colleagues. This can help build stronger connections and foster a more positive work or personal environment.
  • Increased Motivation: Taking a break can increase motivation as it provides a sense of accomplishment and rejuvenation. It can help you feel more motivated in tackling the rest of your work or personal tasks.

Similarly, I had taken a break from social media for a while. The key reason was to be aware of the time I would spend on the mobile phone. The extensive screen time would give me headaches while social media would make me feel useless. I figured that there are a couple more things that i could do without my phone being involved. I took up hobbies like mandala art, Worli art, and related creative stuff. Adding to this I would cycle, walk and exercise daily. This has made me become more self-aware. My eyesight power has considerably reduced as well. I am in a better place mentally and physically after this break.

A break can be anything. To me, it was more of socializing, but it can be anything for you guys. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and take a break from whatever you are doing. Also, don’t take a break for too long.

That is it for now. In case you have any add-ons to these, feel free to share them in the comments below.

Bidding adieu! I will see you on my next blog. Until then, take care!

PS- KitKat didn’t sponsor this blog.
