This is an open letter to the ones I love the most who voted for Donald Trump.

I feel betrayed.

I feel betrayed as a daughter, a sister.

As a woman.

By voting for this man you have said that it’s okay to discriminate against immigrants, black lives, LGBTQ, women, the indigenous people, our climate. This planet we call home that your “god” created as a gift to us.

You’ve turned your backs.

I can no longer ignore the elephant in the room because of our “political” differences.

This is not a difference of opinion. This is not a Republican or Democrat, or a conservative or liberal view. It’s beyond that. And if you disagree with me, then you are not paying attention.

I am saddened to think that the ones I love the most feel this way about me, about humans and about our planet.

By voting for him and for what he stands for, I question your beliefs.

I was taught to respect, to love and care about others and to stand up to bullies. I will continue to do that.

I am not being dramatic or emotional. Even if you roll your eyes and are not actually listening, know that I am. And know I will continue to fight for my brothers and sisters while you have said it was okay for our rights to be taken away.

I know you love me. Please, know that I love you.

And know, I will continue to fight for your rights, even though you won’t fight for mine.

The one who loves you more than anything.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
