The girl on my left.

There sits a girl on my left almost every working day. Let’s call her Amy.

She is cute, smart, a fast talker and in her mid 20s, among other things. If you are thinking why would I write about someone who sits on my left, let me help. Beside the fact that she wanted me to write something about her, if I am not wrong (am I, Amy?), I found her interesting enough to write something about her.

Where do I begin?

She is a beautiful, young independent woman from my country who aptly represents the millions of women out there who are trying hard to make a name for themselves. I met her when one of the first bugs I raised at my current company was assigned to her (And btw, if you don’t know what a bug is, lets just say, its some problem with some software). She came walking swiftly to my desk and explained to me something about the issue I don’t remember. Partly because she was talking too fast for my liking and partly because I didn’t know much about the software I was working on.

Fast forward a few months and I find myself sitting next to her.

For the first days or weeks, if I remember correctly, we barely talk. But once we did, she was willing to reveal more about herself than I would want her to :P. So I decided to throw a few questions to her, should I come up with good ones. Following is my understanding of Amy based on the answers I received.

She is someone who is willing to forget her own problems if it helps her solve someone else’s. She is one of the millions like her who wants to be a part of the mania called ‘Mumbai’, or any similar metro like it.

Always looking forward to making plans for the weekends with her entire lot (a.k.a. BFFs). I bet she has quite a few of those. At the same time, mindful of her obligations. Did I mention she is a decent coder too? The uncanny ability to be friends with Monsters like me is evidence enough of her extrovert nature.

I wish her all the success and everything else she is looking for. I hope I meet her again should our paths lead to separate ways and write something more, if I can.

Thank you Amy for resolving my bugs and letting me write this.
