Tribute to Chester

Everything has to come to an end. This time a voice has silenced. The voice that has always been an inspiration to me. The voice that has left an impact on my childhood and adolescence. The voice that matured from youth angst to life lessons has faded. Sometimes some people you hardly even knew can make such a significant impact to your life that their death would sadden you very much. Someone so distant yet so close that their death would literally make you despondent.

I grew up listening to Linkin Park. Their Nu-Metal and Alternative Rock music introduced me to the world of heavier music. So they practically have had a huge influence throughout my life. There’s no holding back to say that Linkin Park has been a constant source of motivation through out. And Chester’s suicide is very disappointing and despairing to me personally. I still hope that it’s just a bad dream. But unfortunately, it’s not.

There’s no going back in life. You cannot undo life. You’ve got to move on with the fact that you have to live the life on life’s terms. Battled with the depression through out his life, he definitely wanted to live his life on the life’s terms. But that moment when ending the life would apparently seem to be the only solution to end the pain, you cannot think anything other than that. Probably that’s what came over him. Feels very bad to know that someone who was so vocal about depression and whose songs have prevented many youths from ending their life, would eventually end his life and leave everyone in grief.

You have touched the hearts of millions through your voice and your songs, Chester. You and your voice will always be missed. Your songs, your exceptional voice shall never die. Wherever you are, you’ll always be remembered! Thanks for being a part of my life! Thanks for my childhood!
