About Kalido

Kalido is the world’s best, free, trust-driven global services app. Its intelligent and powerful matching engine redefines how individuals connect to exchange services, meet colleagues and classmates, and friends nearby, and discover the power of the communities they belong to. Kalido matches service providers and service seekers based on whether one can do what the other needs, ranking matches using common contacts, common organisational affiliations, and geography. And instead of arbitrary star rankings by strangers, Kalido gives users personal recommendations from people they already know and trust.

Kalido is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. It’s free to download, free to use, and takes zero commission from service providers or service seekers. Our primary markets at present are Johannesburg, Delhi, and Lagos. We will be rolling out to new cities around the world throughout the remainder of 2017 and in 2018.

Our founders, investors, and team

Kalido was founded by former McKinsey and Alibaba executives with over 30 years of combined experience in business and business management, and is backed by investors in leadership roles at companies including Goldman Sachs, the Capital Group, Wells Fargo and others. Our team includes developers, designers, and writers with expertise across arti cial intelligence, app development, server architecture, service scaling, user experience design, user interface design, illustration, law, and more. The position

Kalido is a phenomenal product that is ready to be taken to the next level. To help us do this, we are looking for an experienced marketing specialist to join our team; someone who shares our vision, and will work with us to change the future of work. As Head of Marketing and Growth, you will be in charge of leading our marketing efforts and driving user acquisition in both our current and future markets. You will play an important role in shaping the way we position Kalido, as well as in the way we grow and engage with our user base. Our team is primarily based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and we’d like you to be too, but for exceptional candidates, we’re willing to be as flexible as practically possible.

As part of a startup, your responsibilities will vary, but will include:

  • Driving user growth, engagement, retention, and increasing revenues;
  • Proposing market positioning, both online and offline;
  • Building brand awareness;
  • Defining and executing key marketing priorities;
  • Driving campaigns across multiple geographies and multiple platforms, online and offline, including social, ad networks, direct partnerships and retargeting; and on-the-ground brand activation, amongst others;
  • Driving sales of premium subscriptions, and identifying and closing new enterprise and community sales opportunities;
  • Developing and extending enterprise and community relationships/subscriptions;
  • Providing feedback to the product team to help improve user acquisition, engagement, retention, and conversion;
  • Establishing schedules and milestones, and transparently tracking progress;
  • Managing relevant internal communication to ensure the entire team is aware of marketing requirements, efforts and successes;
  • Efficiently managing marketing budgets, and working with our accounting team to ensure accurate monthly reports.

Candidate profile

We’re looking for someone who has a track record of:

  • Digital marketing strategy, from development through to execution;
  • Mobile product positioning;
  • Marketing campaign development, execution, and management;
  • Multi-channel mobile user acquisition for apps (not just websites);
  • Search engine optimisation and app store optimization;
  • Driving free-to-premium user conversion;
  • Meeting ROI targets;
  • Delivering creative and impressive solutions in app startups;
  • Leading teams or coordinating cooperation with different suppliers.

The right candidate will also possess:

  • A desire to work in a small, fluid, and fast-moving team;
  • Internal drive, autonomy, and a respect for the same in others;
  • Solid analytic and quantitative skills;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills;
  • A strong desire to build great things;
  • Passion for helping to create employment and make freelancers successful.

This is a senior role, with a gross salary starting at 60k USD per year. You’ll be employed full-time, on a permanent basis, with salary adjustment potential based on your experience and ability to help us drive growth.
