Surgical Teeth Extraction

Answering frequently asked questions is often a good way to know more about the issue. Go through these, if you did not find the answer to your question, please give us a call on (905) 608–9000.

What is Surgical Tooth Extraction?

When a tooth has not fully grown out of your gums but is slightly visible above the gums and your dentist cannot perform a simple tooth extraction, the dentist then performs a complicated procedure to extract the tooth which is known as Surgical Tooth Extraction. Your dental surgeon cuts a small incision in your gum and then removes your tooth and stitches your gum to close the wound and help it heal properly.

How long would tooth extraction take?

If one tooth has to be extracted, then the surgical tooth extraction may take about 20–40 mins. If more than one tooth is to be extracted then it will take extra 10–15 minutes per tooth depending on the location of the other tooth.

Is surgical tooth extraction painful?

A surgical tooth extraction might require more time and invasive work than regular dental procedures, however, our highly skilled and compassionate team of professional dental practitioners will make it go as smooth as possible. When a surgical extraction is completed, the patient should expect to experience some swelling and/or pain. The swelling is completely normal and actually part of the healing process. This can be reduced by placing some ice on top of the swollen area of the mouth. Your dentist may give you some pain medication for the few days after the extraction.
