The statement by Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, on Wednesday, January 17, validates the analysis provided by Marcelo Hernandez, an international logistics expert, in an exclusive interview with Asia Link Trade.

Clerc stated that the disruption of global maritime transport due to attacks on ships in the Red Sea is expected to persist for several months, highlighting the possibility of longer transit times and potential disruptions in the supply chain.

The CEO expressed uncertainty about the exact duration of the situation, deeming it unpredictable. He informed that Maersk and other major maritime companies have redirected hundreds of commercial ships to longer routes around Africa in response to attacks by Houthi militants supported by Iran.

Maersk is a global integrated container logistics company operating in 130 countries.
