Red Sea Conflict: Logistics Delays
The ongoing armed conflict in the Red Sea continues to impact international trade, resulting in successive delays in deliveries.
For instance, the automotive sector warns of a shortage of parts from Asian suppliers. Tesla has announced a possible suspension of activities at its Berlin factory between January 29th and February 11th. Similarly, Volvo will temporarily halt operations in Belgium, and Suzuki in Hungary due to this reason.
To avoid the conflict, the route of merchant ships has been redirected to South Africa, bypassing the Cape of Good Hope, adding at least ten more days to the journey.
