Nichols Plc has on Friday issued a recall for its Vimto Squash ‘No Added Sugar’ as they have been filled with Vimto Original Squash that contains sugar, due to a packaging error.

“This action is being taken due to a packaging error, which has caused a limited number of bottles to be erroneously labelled ‘no added sugar’, despite the product within the bottles containing ‘added’ sugar,” the company said in a recall notice.

725ml packs of Vimto Squash ‘No Added Sugar’ with batch code 2182 Aug 23 and best before date August 2023 have been affected and are being recalled.

A simple way to identify whether a product is affected is to check whether the product has a purple cap but is labelled ‘No Added Sugar’. All 725ml products with purple caps contain added sugar, the company said.

Nichols added that point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the product. Consumers who have bought the product can return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
