Against The Odds

If you can have the odds go against you
When you need them the most
Witness life become slow but demanding
Lose the race even though you were close
Have those around you outpace you
Even though you are ready to soar
Have your passion cease from smoldering
There is little left burning in your core
Be riddled by frustration
Because things are not the same anymore
Lose your trust in those around you
Let isolation become what you know
But you try and keep on proceeding
Step by step, even if your feet have grown sore
Then maybe
Just maybe
You can be a hero after all.
