My challenges at Andela
Having gone through week one of the Andela boot camp, I took off some time to reflect on my journey so far. I looked back as far as home study for my cohort one application.
The entire application process is quite challenging. The biggest challenges for me included the tools that we had to use. In Cohort one, all the tools were new to me. Trello, git, slack were all very new to me. The same applied to the language and most of the concepts we had to apply, for example Test Driven Development. Since I was just learning to code, the tasks took me longer than other bootcampers and hence I struggled to submit on time. I missed a few deadlines especially in week one.
My teams have always been my way around challenges, my boot camp team in week two bootcamp I consisted mainly of experienced programmers. I took that as an advantage and tried to learn from them as much as I could. I learnt a lot from them and I could freely ask any of them for help. Even after bootcamp I carried on with the learning. I kept in touch with my LFAs and friends made at bootcamp and I kept on learning from them. Today is day one of week two bootcamp II and am much more confident. I have practiced with all the tools, I write better code; I have improved my grasp on Test Driven Development. I still hope to learn and apply more from this bootcamp too.
