How to Look at the True Essence of Things

The recent hype about the Netflix show “The Three-Body Problem” has lead to discussions about the observer effect. This concept isn’t limited to science; can also lead observer bias and the actor-observer bias. Showing how watching something or someone can change things in areas, not just science.

My interest in this topic is not in the quantum science or so but in exploring questions like:

  • How can we observe things without being an observer ourselves?
  • How do we perceive the true essence of what we observe?

So far, there are two persons that have intrigued me with their unique perspectives finding from observing things.

  • Viktor Schauberger, an Austrian forest caretaker, naturalist, philosopher, inventor, and biomimicry experimenter, who relies on keen observation in nature rather than using traditional scientific methods of his time.
  • Jun’ichirō Tanizaki, who wrote In Praise of Shadows, which I admire for his observation of shadow and relation to aesthetics.

Observe beyond our senses
