1) INFJs are rare- only 1–3% of the population is INFJ

INFJs are a rare personality type; only 1–3% of people can be classified as INFJ. INFJs have a unique set of gifts and talents, including empathy, perceptive insight, and the ability to think beyond the moment. INFJs also tend to like helping others and strive to make the world a better place. INFJs have an inclination towards creativity and have been called ‘the healer or sage’ in certain circles. INFJs are able to think outside the box, which makes them well suited for problem-solving and tackling difficult tasks with a unique approach. Even though INFJs may be few in number, their contributions cannot be underestimated.

2) INFJs have a strong sense of intuition and know things without knowing how they know them

INFJs are known to be highly intuitive and they often find that they can know things without knowing how they know them. INFJs also possess a strong sense of empathy, allowing them to “feel” the emotions of others even if no words are exchanged. INFJs can pick up on subtle cues quickly and accurately, piecing together the big picture without needing to be told the details. INFJs trust their gut feelings more than anyone else but this isn’t something they take lightly as INFJs always make sure that what they’re feeling is valid and factual. INFJs have a knack for understanding even the most complex scenarios and it’s this intuition that gives INFJs an edge in any given situation.

3) INFJs are idealists and want to make the world a better place

INFJs are unique, complex individuals whose outlook on life is heavily rooted in altruism and idealism. INFJs have an incredible capacity to think deeply, viewing reality with a lens of compassion and tenderness. INFJs live for the purpose of helping others, understanding that life and the world around us can always be improved upon. INFJs are intensely drawn to their mission of making the world a better place, striving constantly to make their vision a reality. INFJs carry this mission within not only themselves but also share it with those around them. INFJ personalities bring invaluable perspective and insight into whatever project or endeavor that they involve themselves in because of their abiding commitment to bettering society and being of service to those around them.

4) INFJs are sensitive and can feel other people’s emotions very deeply

INFJs are often dubbed “the rarest of the rare,” for INFJ stands for Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judgement; INFJ personality types operate in a highly sensitive manner. INFJs have an uncanny ability to pick up on vibes and can sense emotions that they may not even be aware of themselves; these mystical creatures feel deeply, often to their own detriment. INFJs use their emotional sensitivity to assess all situations before coming to a rational conclusion or decision. This is both a strength and a weakness in INFJs because although they possess great insight into understanding people’s feelings and motives, their tendency towards overly-hedging their bets can sometimes get them stuck in analysis paralysis.

5) INFJs are independent thinkers and don’t always agree with popular opinion

INFJs are often thought of as independent-minded when it comes to popular opinion. Not only are INFJs capable of expressing their own opinions, but they prefer to do so without regard for how others may view them. INFJs believe that understanding the world is a personal journey, and therefore each individual has the right to draw their own conclusions based on their experiences and values. INFJs are free-thinkers who don’t necessarily subscribe to an established point of view, making them interesting and unique conversational partners who always add something new to a discussion.

6) INFJs have a rich inner life and enjoy spending time alone or with close friends

INFJs have a special type of personality, built on a strong foundation of introversion and rich inner life. INFJs thrive off of being alone or with close friends, valuing the quality of these relationships over quantity. INFJs look to people for in-depth conversations that allow them to express their ideas, connect with those around them on a deeper level, and explore the depths of their own thoughts. INFJ’s independent streak means that they find great joy in taking moments to reflect or spending time by themselves immersed in activities or hobbies that bring them peace. INFJ’s need for socialization that is fulfilling and meaningful can make it difficult for them to maintain superficial relationships and connections; however, when provided with outlets where INFJs are allowed and encouraged to explore their imagination and individuality, INFJs can truly flourish.

7) INFJs dislike small talk but enjoy deep, meaningful conversations

INFJs can find small talk to be a tiresome act and are often drawn to more meaningful and authentic conversations. Deeper discussions serve as a starting point for INFJs to analyze, contemplate, and express their thoughts. INFJs are driven by their emotions and inner world, which leads them to itch for those special connections with others that come out of profound discourse. INFJ’s dislike when the surface level conversations do not tap into the real meat of what is being discussed — instead, INFJs seek conversation topics that challenge them on a mental, emotional and spiritual level. Connecting with someone through deep conversation makes things more vibrant for INFJs, as it allows them to discover new insights not only about each other but also themselves.

8) The way an INFJ dress often reflects their personality and interests

INFJs are known to be deeply introspective and creative individuals, often taking these qualities and incorporating them into the way they dress. INFJs have a passion for aesthetics, ideally wanting to express their inner reflections and feelings through their attire. INFJs oftentimes strive to develop a “statement” look that is inspired by personal tastes and interests yet can still express who they really are in a visually appealing manner. INFJs tend to wear clothing that reflects their idealistic views, and dreamy state of mind, and naturally will vary from one person to another. INFJ personalities are fascinated with culture, arts, music, literature, and poetry, so it should come as no surprise that this is often translated into their wardrobe choices.

9) People often find the combination of intelligence, intuition, sensitivity, and independence intimidating

INFJ individuals — those known for their combination of intelligence, intuition, sensitivity, and independence — are some of the most remarkable people out there. Although their unique qualities can seem intimidating to some, INFJs can be incredibly inspiring and supportive. They have both the insight to analyze complex issues and the independent spirit to follow their own convictions, striving towards making a positive impact in the world. Those around INFJs are often drawn to their lively minds and amazing energy, which makes them formidable forces for good in society.

10) Ultimately, people fear what they do not understand

INFJ’s often have a deep, often spiritual understanding of the world and its different complexities, but this understanding can be too complex for other people to comprehend. INFJ’s are usually not surprised by this discrepancy between their beliefs and those of others; they know that they think differently and understand that this often causes fear in those who do not grasp their unique perspectives. Ultimately, it is fear of the unknown or the misunderstood that drives one to mistrust or be intimidated by INFJ’s — people fear what they do not understand.

INFJs are seldom afraid to stand up for what they believe in, no matter who or what is opposing them. That kind of strength and integrity can be intimidating to others.
