There’s no shortage of communication that delivers positive thinking advice but is it always helpful?

I think not.

There are times when it pays to obey an inner voice of caution and procrastinate. If your strong instinct is not to act don’t worry what colleagues may think, dig in your heels and have confidence to be conservative.
