Wooden furniture is a basic component of every house that enhances the house. But like every other expensive thing it also needs maintenance over time so that its color does not get demolished. There are two ways to maintain the polish of wooden furniture. First one is the use of any commercial wood cleaner or polish. But it can be risky because wood cleaners contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds). And these could contain harmful fumes which can affect the color of furniture and your health as well. So therefore, we have three best homemade polishes which not only enhance the color of furniture but also remove greasy stains.

Ways to Make Homemade polishes:

Homemade polishes are amazing because they not only remove greasy stains but also moisturize the furniture. Here are three easy ways to make wooden polish using ingredients that are easily available in your kitchen. You can follow the step-by-step method to make wood polish.

1. White Vinegar and Lemon Juice;

One of the easiest methods is by combining white vinegar and lemon juice in equal parts. Firstly, wipe the furniture with warm water using a cloth and then apply the mixture of white vinegar and lemon juice in circular motion. If furniture is carved, then use brush instead of cloth. White vinegar removes greasy stains while lemon juice gives a pleasant smell. You can also use apple cider vinegar in case of dark wood.

Always make a fresh polish, don’t store for a longer period. However, it can be used within a month.

2. Olive Oil and Lemon Juice;

Another easy and quick method to make homemade polish is to mix olive oil and lemon juice. Remember to shake the mixture before applying because olive oil and lemon can easily separate into two layers. Apply this mixture on a soft cloth and then apply it on furniture. Don’t add too much olive oil as it can attract dust easily. You can also use coconut oil instead of olive oil.

3. Beeswax and olive oil polish;

Take ½ cup of beeswax in a pot and melt it. Then add olive oil in it and mix them completely. When you want to apply polish microwave this mixture for 20 or 30 seconds. Then apply this mixture in circular motion on the furniture. Let it dry for a moment and then see if its stains are removed or not. If not, you can apply more. You can buy beeswax from any automobile shop, honey shop or any polish shop.
