Project 1: The Interested Challenge (3 points)

In the book “How To Win Friends And Influence People”, the writer Dale Carnegie wrote his lives different experiences in the first chapter. The main takeaway of the chapter was to try to get interested in others, in this way you can make more genuine friends in less time. We as human beings love to get noticed we enjoy when someone gives attention to us. To be interested is a two way path, if you will take interest in others they will take interest in you. It does not requires a lot of qualifications, higher degrees, there is no rocket science in it, it is as simple as saying hello but in a voice which make other feel how much pleased you are to have them. People who are interested in others, who are concerned about others are more loved and get respect from others. Writer Dale Carnegie gave number of examples of successful people who were genuinely interested in others and this was their secret of success. It is a natural phenomena that we are interested in others when they are interested in us and the show of interest must be sincere for long lasting relationships, in this way both the giver and the receiver get benefit. Greet people with love and smile, ask about their lives, their problems, their stories show them concern, be friendly in this manner you will learn a lot from others and when you take interest in others your personality automatically becomes interesting. I am quoting last few lines of Dale Carnegie here, he says “ if you want others to like you, if you want to develop real friendships, if you want to help others at the same time as you help yourself, keep this principle in mind: Become genuinely interested in other people”.

Interested activity 24hrs, my experience:

I did this activity on last Wednesday and Thursday and i enjoyed alot. It was a totally different experience. I realized that i used to talk about myself too much, it really embarrassed me. Overall it was a great experience i learned a lot about others. I played this game with some of my old friends and some new friends, through this activity i got a chance to know them more deeply and one thing which i noticed is that when i played this game with my new friends, i showed my interest in them, i asked about their past lives experiences and happenings they eventually started taking interest in me and my life and i think this was the reason why amal team gave us this activity to do. The principle of the Dale Carnegie really works, getting interested genuinely in others makes you interesting as well.
