When “Life Hacking” Is Really White Privilege

Thank you for writing this. I have a hard time with a lot of personal development books (read: drivel) because they’re so divorced from reality, and more specifically, from non-white, non-male reality. So many of the platitudes you can pick up along the way really amount to “whatever bad thing happens to you, it’s your fault for not being positive enough.” Barbara Kingsolver wrote an awesome book on just this.

I remember picking up a personal finance book or two once when trying to get better at managing my (meager at the time) income. Somehow they all built up to advising real estate investment. Are you kidding me?

Anyway, I think you’re highlighting something very pervasive and dangerous, and I hope this post reaches a lot of people.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
