Summary of the project

What if we explore ways of communicating with others that unlock defences? Our emotions are key to understanding what we need and help us determine our positions and strategies to get them fulfilled. Understanding is a beautiful and necessary step before expressing yourself. All these ideas in the framework of community building and political participation we will discuss in a beautiful old house in Guriezo, Cantabria, 15 minutes walking from the beach!

Aim: To equip 26 youth workers, youth leaders and activists with competencies in conflict transformation and non-violent communication for community building and peaceful political participation in order to be multipliers at the local level and European levels.

  • To develop skills in emotional literacy, non-violent communication and active listening
  • To map and analyse the realities of the participants on how interpersonal conflict and violence affect local communities
  • To facilitate the process of designing at least 6 follow-up activities aiming to transform local conflicts by using community building and peaceful political participation tools

How do we work?

The training course will be based on the principles of non-formal education: it will have a planned programme of personal and social education for young people designed to improve a range of skills and competencies, outside the formal educational curriculum.

We will implement the essential elements of non-formal education, such as the education being voluntary, organized with educational objectives, participatory and learner-centred, about learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship, based on involving both individual and group learning with a collective approach, holistic and process-oriented, as well as based on experience and action (we will plan the follow-up activities) and starts from the needs of the participants.

COSTS

Education is a right that we have as human beings, even if sometimes we have to pay for it. This is why we are happy and grateful to tell you that this training is for FREE and everything is covered by Erasmus +

We will be able to reimburse you for your travel to Madrid with a limits covered by Erasmus+

Youth Peace Ambassadors Network and LPS

The Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN) is an informal network of 92 young peacebuilders from across Europe who work with and in conflict-affected communities.

The majority of the members of the network are trained on human rights, non-formal education, and conflict transformation by the Council of Europe in the long-term project (2011–2014).

Our Mission: The YPA Network wants to develop a culture of peace by empowering young people, and promoting human rights, dignity, equality and respect for diversity through education, advocacy and other non-violent actions through projects at local and international levels.

As YPA Network we promote local and international peace-building activities by young people around Europe.

Libre-pensadores de la Sierra de Madrid (LPS) is a network of young people with the aim of promoting Human Rights Education, democratic advocacy for youth policies and inclusion and cooperation.
