Summary of the Project

We are living on times of uncertainty where things are changing all the time. We believe that conflict is something we see and we have to deal with. We invite you to explore with us the world of conflict transformation, crisis managment, how resilience is built, non violent communication and other tools that can be helpful for communities that are or will face adversities in the next years. Thats why we think it´s really cool to join youth workers, activists and thinkers to debate and get deeper in how communities can deal with conflicts now and in the future. For this, we will see what has been done already and gather the practices that work in the local communities of the participants and create new ones.

Aim: To empower 26 participants to participate in their local communities by equipping them with tools in conflict transformation, non violent communication, community building and crisis managment.

Objectives:

  • To equip participants with knowledge on concepts of peace, violence, conflict, peaceful political participation, the culture of peace and human rights;
  • To map and analyse the realities of the participants on how conflicts affect our local communities.
  • To gain knowledge in Crisis Managment.
  • To understand the importance of nonviolent conflict transformation, the variety of strategies to approach conflict and its links to the context of human rights.
  • To empower participants to participate and build healthy and peaceful communities at their local level.
  • To create a recommendations document including the framework of competencies for youth leaders to build sustainable communities and teams
  • Create a network of cooperation to exchange good practices, tools and materials that already work in the local communities.

Profile of participants:

  • Educators, youth workers or trainers involved in youth organisations and associations.
  • Activists or community leaders within youth organisations.
  • Young people who are passionate about peace culture, human rights education and conflict transformation.
  • Young people who want to take part in the change and are willing to explore innovative ways of participating and being active in their local communities.
  • People that are interested in community building and conflict transformation through dialogue.
  • Available to take part in the whole duration of the project.
  • Interested in creating a community where we will debate, ask ourselves and others, think, learn and unlearn from each other.
  • Interested in peaceful ways of communicating as world-changing tools.

How do we work?

The training course will be based on the principles of non-formal education: it will have a planned programme of personal and social education for young people designed to improve a range of skills and competencies, outside the formal educational curriculum.

We will implement the essential elements of non-formal education, such as the education being voluntary, organized with educational objectives, participatory and learner-centred, about learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship, based on involving both individual and group learning with a collective approach, holistic and process-oriented, as well as based on experience and action (we will plan the follow-up activities) and starts from the needs of the participants.

COSTS

Education is a right we have as human beings, even if sometimes we must pay for it. This is why we are happy and grateful to tell you that this training is for FREE and everything is covered by Erasmus +.

We will be able to reimburse you for your travel to Madrid within a limit covered by Erasmus+.
