Job Title: Community Manager

Location: Oakland, CA

Language Requirement: English

Challenge Area: Customer Acquisition & Brand Building

Duration: Full-Time

Ideal Start Date: by February 24, 2020

About Agni:

Agni is building a new product category: food-based remedies. We seek to make the healing powers of food and herbs accessible to all, and in doing so offer new ways for consumers to take their health into their own hands. Our products are inspired by ancient wisdom and vetted by modern nutrition. We are relentless about ensuring they are delicious, familiar, and easy to incorporate into daily life.

Eventually we will offer care packages and subscriptions filled with foods to support everything from prenatal nutrition to cold and flu to surgery recovery. We work with food geniuses and our Medical Advisory board to make sure our products are as delicious as they are efficacious. The first products we will offer are designed to support postpartum recovery, better periods, and smooth menopause transitions.

We are constantly learning about the body’s capacity to heal itself, especially when provided with the right nutrients and experiences. We are often trading book recommendations, swapping new recipes, and have been known to share our latest kitchen creations with one another over team meetings :)

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Community Manager to grow Agni’s social media following to 50k in year 1 via influencer relationships and promotions and to create happy customers with 95+% satisfaction rating on support interactions. You’ll do this by working closely with our Director of Brand Marketing, agencies, and contractors to ideate photos, copy, and campaigns that will educate consumers about the healing powers of food. You’ll be an internal point of contact to some external agencies (e.g. PR or growth marketing). You’ll be given complete ownership of our influencer program and build partnerships with leading health advocates and brands to get the word out about Agni. You’ll also work closely with our CEO on customer support. This will take up much less of your time, but we’ll rely on you to flag important insights about customer needs to the team.

The ideal candidate is excited to connect with our customers both via social media and by providing direct support to customers who write in with questions about our products.

You’ll play a key role in Agni’s public launch and should be excited about building a global community.

While this is not a design position, a thirst to create social assets and to use best judgement to select and vet images in good taste is a must.

Key responsibilities and deliverables:

  • Find and create innovative ways to make consumers feel loved and supported through their life moments while building a playful and knowledgeable brand that can become the global authority on food-medicine remedies
  • Collaborate with the team on the content roadmap Agni needs to succeed, inclusive of blogs, articles, podcasts, videos, graphics, social, creative and more
  • Develop email strategies, cadence, and programs to increase email subscribers and customer lifetime value (CLV) of current customers
  • Lead evaluation and implementation of third-party tools and features as needed for optimal customer support experience
  • Stay in contact with our customers via public and private messages

Skills and qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in customer facing roles and/or managing a d2c brand’s social media presence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hunger to learn and earn as much responsibility as you can
  • Highly creative and ready to apply intuition and intellect to identifying target audiences and devising content that engage, inform, and motivate
  • Strong sense of ownership — you want to give things a crack on your own before asking for help
  • Experience in food, healthcare, and/or technology are a plus
  • You’re happy to both think through strategy and get your hands dirty
  • You’re excited to keep building the culture you want to be a part of with us

Our promises to you:

We will:

  • make space for and support your career and personal growth
  • uphold high standards of conduct and work with compassion
  • be honest and transparent with you
  • treat you with respect and generosity

We will surround you with colleagues who:

  • communicate clearly, honestly, and with compassion
  • research and consider their decisions and positions thoroughly
  • are intentional and mindful in all that they do
  • care deeply for our universe, our earth, animals, plants, and people
  • welcome new ideas and information into their lives
  • are curious to learn more about themselves and the world
  • seek personal and professional growth
  • have established forms of and/or are curious to discover and incorporate new forms of self care, reflection, and rejuvenation
  • inspire those around them to be their best selves by constantly showing up as their best self
  • are pursuing their career and personal goals and dreams with love and persistence
