Excellent description, and reminder, of that most important piece of anatomy called our brain. Our brain is the source of thoughts that cascade this hormone path or turn off this one. There are many cases of soldiers wounded who were white from blood loss and lived. There also are stories about guys who looked at their non-fatal wound and then died from self-induced shock.
I’m rereading “Think and Grow Rich” now. Your article and the book go hand in hand. The mind is powerful beyond belief. I’ve wanted things very much then got them. I learned to “be careful what you wish for” because if your wish is a desire it will come.
One last cliche (that isn’t a cliche) is “Mind over matter: if you don’t mind, it don’t matter”.
