Launch date secured!

Our first two earth imaging satellites secured a launch window set for late February on a Soyuz rocket out of Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. This is the start of our 10 satellite Landmapper-BC constellation, that we’ll launch in 2016 and 2017. These first two satellites give us a full snapshot of all arable land at 22-meters, every 3–4 days.

We are building these satellites with our partners at Aquila Space — dedicated to using open and agile approaches that drive rapid innovation in other technology sectors. Aquila Space is designing, building and launching this next generation of small satellite that will provide the imagery for our processing pipeline.

Once the satellites are calibrated, which takes a few months after launch, everything will be accessible via the pipeline our team is building together with our friends at Development Seed. Search, filter by date and cloud cover, then publish your custom processed scene to the cloud where it can be accessed by any mobile or web application. Try this workflow out with our imagery browser — fetch.astrodigital.com — and API.
