I get scared anytime I do a new thing. I also get anxiety before every photoshoot, which triples when it’s the first time shooting a new thing. My brain defaults to these words, “You’re gonna fuck it up.” So when I decided to do my first boudoir shoot… well, I can’t even remember how I made it to the shoot with my sanity in tact. This shoot, I did in december of 2018, a couple of months before I left Trinidad and the subject was a friend of mine who was willing to take a chance that I could produce some good images.

I had some things going for me and some things working against me, but I knew it was something I wanted to do and I decided to take the plunge. I’m not gonna lie, I have a lot of regrets about that shoot and the quality I delivered to the person who graciously agreed to by my subject, but they maintain that they are happy with the results from the shoot, and for that I am eternally grateful to them.

Going for me

  1. As stated before, the person who agreed to sit for the shoot was a friend of mine, so I didn’t have to worry about fumbling about with lighting and camera settings with someone getting impatient because I was taking to long
  2. Because this was a friend, there was little to no awkwardness about them being in lingerie, and we kept it pretty modest anyway
  3. I was pretty well known…
