Time Magazine discredits the word “feminist.”

Time Magazine has been publishing since 1923 and represents being the largest circulation for a weekly news magazine. Growing up with my passions for advertising and news print I enjoyed Time magazine and the historical value it held. I have always seen Time as a prestigious magazine instead of all of the mundane and societal handicapping media that exists. In the midst of their extremely poor decision to publicly discredit the fight for equality, I find myself with an even more irritated view of society. I often wonder if my generation is in complete oblivion to the lack of fortune our near future is holding. I feel unfortunately that many of our children seem to hide behind how they might be judged instead of being proud to be unique. Especially when a magazine so world renowned can publically bash such an amazing historical movement. Time magazine absolutely disrespected one of the largest and still ongoing movements. If there is anything that might defend their ignorance it is obviously a cheap way to solicit media attention but there is not a big enough excuse mill to churn solidification to associate a movement for freedom with slang urban dictionary words like “bae,” “turnt,” and “on nom nom nom.” I am not one to go picket or join in some uproar radical movement but I am one that stands up for historical facts. I have embarked many times to reflect on our American rights and the history behind the Equal Rights Act. I am not a political genius but I do believe in what our forefathers founded our country on. I will never be grow tired of the historical principle and passions that are associated with the word Feminist. I am proud to be female, I am proud to be an individual with equal rights which in turn makes me according to many a Feminist.

I do not only stand for women’s rights but also males. Men are accountable to their actions just as women are accountable to the actions. How we choose to portray ourselves in society is our personal responsibility. We should have the freedom and equality to express ourselves without getting disrespected by major companies that influence so much of our society.
