Ah…you do know that you sound just like a white guy without a clue? “I’ve tried to give Noah a chance but his ability to grasp and articulate American racism has been inconsistent at best and offensively idiotic at worst.”
I am so pleased, that is, as a black person, that you feel that you grasp the “inconsistent” racism or “idiotic” platitudes spoken by Trevor Noah. What you managed to convey is that you, as white guy, think that you have the veracity to criticize and detract the value of what Trevor Noah conveys as a black man. Perhaps you are one of the many offended whites that made sure the Larry Wilmore’s show was cancelled?
From a black perspective, one of the most refreshing things about Trevor Noah is his total understanding of what it means to be black in America, much less in the world.
You are a prime example of why discussions about race and racism achieve little because the “experienced”, read — lived experience of black people, is discarded as inconsistent and idiotic by the MSM and so-called educated white folks!
Whether you like it or not, Trevor “gets” black reality and has no problem expressing it in the ways that we, meaning black folks, get it! Too bad that doesn’t translate to you and that you miss the subtlety and irony of his anecdotes! Perhaps you’d have to be black to relate?
You should spend more time listening to Tomi than wasting your time hoping that Trevor manages to speak ‘white’ enough about black issues just for you grasp!
